Be There in Five started as a door mat business with a simple mission: reminding people of the important things they forget when running out the door. To remember their lunch, that they look amazing today, and to [most importantly] not burn down their house. Recently, the "turn off your straightener" door mats gained some traction across social media and allowed me to live one of my dreams; becoming a [part-time] small business owner.

While these door mats gave me my start, Be There in Five means more to me than selling products. It's a tongue-in-cheek representation of not having to be perfect; an intentional tribute to one of my biggest flaws. It's for those of you like me, who always run a little behind, pay way too much attention to detail and try to be everywhere at once. It's for those of us that look pretty together but endure a comically hectic process in order to appear that way. I want to relieve some of the pressure we put on ourselves; to laugh a little about always running 5 minutes late, to find the charm in organized chaos, to make it okay not to be a DIYer, a fitness goddess or a Martha Stewart in the making. I want Be There in Five to be an honest place; where you don't have to compare your own life to an overly edited one. Where you won't feel bad that you didn't bring a miniature stadium made of deli meat to a Super Bowl party or make a light installation out of your recycled goods.

I don't have too focused of an agenda, other than to write about things relatable, try things that are attainable and help us all realize we're more similar than we think. So Be There in Five is dedicated to all the thoughts and things, people and places, ideas and ideals that make me a slave to this phrase. And to all the people out there like me, whose curiosity creates an ill concept of time.

Let me know your thoughts, and I’ll let you know mine. I’ll be there in 5, I swear.
